Discover the grand home of the von Hallwyl family and one of Sweden's largest cultural and historical collections, with everything from salons and galleries to kitchens and bathrooms preserved. The home, along with all its contents, was donated to the state to be displayed as a museum.

Recommended visit duration

We recommend 1 to 1.5 hours for a visit to the Hallwyl museum.

Admission Prices

  • Adults: 150 SEK
  • Children up to 18 years: Free entrance
  • Guide/tour leader: Free.

Guided Tours

  • Regular palace tours available daily year-round (can be pre-booked)
  • Private guide: Allowed in the open areas of the museum, authorized guides have free entry.

  • Weekdays daytime: 1,500 SEK + 130 SEK entrance fee per person
  • Evenings/weekends: 2,000 SEK + 130 SEK entrance fee per person

Good to know before you visit Hallwyl museum.

Travel by public transport or car

The Hallwyl Museum is centrally located in Stockholm, close to the Central Station and Östermalm. Parking is not allowed outside the museum at Hamngatan 4.

  • Bus: Several SL inner-city buses stop near the museum at Nybroplan, Hamngatan, and Norrmalmstorg, including buses 2, 76, and 69.
  • Tram 7: Nybroplan
  • Subway: Östermalmstorg/Kungsträdgården
  • Bicycle: The nearest bike parking can be found at Norrmalmstorg or Birger Jarlsgatan 5.

Parking

There is no parking allowed outside the museum at Hamngatan 4. The nearest parking is on nearby streets in Östermalm.

Accessibility

  • Five floors with stairs, no elevator.
  • Not accessible for wheelchairs or walkers.
  • Folding chairs are available for loan at the entrance.
  • Accompanying assistants have free entry.
  • Strollers are not allowed.

About the accessibility

For children and families

  • Play as masters and servants in the playroom, which features a kitchen and dining room.
  • Listen to our audio guide for children.
  • Strollers are not allowed; the nearest place to lock a stroller is at Norrmalmstorg.

With the audio guide, you can enjoy an exciting tour of the museum. The audio guide is available in several different languages, as well as in a children’s version and an audio described version.

Restaurant and food in the museum

Enjoy good food, coffee and wine in the Hallwylska Museum courtyard during the summer. The restaurant is run by an external restaurateur and all reservations are made through their restaurant.

Wardrobe

To avoid bumping into objects in the museum environment, it is not permitted to bring bags into the museum or carry your jacket over your arm. Lockers are available on the entrance floor of the museum, where you can store your belongings. No coins are needed. Small bags are allowed inside.
