The Hallwyl Museum is a private house from the turn of the century 1900. The house was inhabited until 1930 and has since been a state-owned museum which is now part of the National Historical Museums (SHM), a government agency.

The Hallwyl Museum is one person's vision and work. Wilhelmina von Hallwyl (1844-1930) was one of Sweden's great collectors of art and applied arts at the turn of the century 1900.
