Plan your visit
To avoid bumping into objects in the palace, it is not allowed to bring jackets or bags into the museum. There are lockers on the ground floor of the museum where you can store your outerwear. Smaller bags are allowed inside. Unfortunately, we cannot store suitcases. The closest lockers are at Stockholm Central Station.
- We have two sizes on the lockers. The small locker is 27x34 centimeter and the big locker is 27x72 centimeter.
- You lock the locker with a key that you take with you during your visit.
Food and beverages
It is not allowed to bring food and beverages into the museum. If you wish to eat, you are warmly welcome to Hallwylska Restaurant and Bar, located in the museum courtyard, serving food and drinks. Hallwylska Restaurant closes during the fall and re-opens in the spring, with the exception of the Christmas buffet, and its daily opening hours may differ from the museum's opening hours. The restaurant offers a wide selection, including vegan options on the menu.
For menu details and opening hours, please visit the restaurant's website.
There is no elevator in the museum. To visit the exhibitions and join the guided tours you need to go up some stairs.
For safety reasons, strollers are not allowed inside the museum. The nearest location for securing strollers is at Norrmalmstorg, where bicycles are typically locked as well.
At the moment, we do not have a baby changing facility.
Find your way around the museum
The museum has five floors, with two of them open to visit without a guided tour. Please feel free to use our museum map. If you would like to visit more of the museum's five floors, you are welcome to book one of our daily tours.
Only guide- and service dogs are allowed inside the museum.
You are more than welcome to take photos in our exhibitions, and share them on social media. However, tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed for safety reasons. For commercial photography, please contact the museum for availability and pricing information.
We offer free wi-fi to our visitors. Username and password can be found in the museum's entrance.
